M-PESA Statement Code 2026: Get It on *334#
Get your M-PESA statement in 2026: dial *334#, pick mini or full statement, choose the period and receive the PDF by email. Free, step by step.
To get an M-PESA statement, dial *334# on your registered Safaricom line, select My Account, then M-PESA Statement, then Request Statement. Choose a mini statement for your last 5 transactions by SMS, or a full statement for a chosen period, which is emailed to you as a password-protected PDF. The request is free.
M-PESA statements are the single most requested self-service task on Safaricom's USSD menu, and one of the clearest examples of why USSD still carries Kenya's most important transactions. No app download, no data bundle, no login screen: a session that starts and ends in under a minute and delivers a bank-grade document to your inbox.
This guide covers the current 2026 menu path, the difference between a mini and a full statement, how to read the PDF password, and what to do when the request fails. If you are a business owner reading this and thinking "I want my customers to self-serve like this," the last section is for you.
The code is *334#. This is the main M-PESA menu on Safaricom, and the statement function lives inside it under My Account.
A note on a common mix-up: a lot of older guides, and even Google's featured snippet at the time of writing, still send people to *234#. That was the historic M-PESA menu, but Safaricom consolidated the consumer M-PESA experience onto *334# and *234# now serves the M-PESA business menu. If a guide tells you to dial *234# and pick "My M-PESA Information," it is describing the old menu tree. Use *334#.

You will get an SMS confirming the request. Mini statements arrive by SMS immediately. Full statements are generated and emailed, usually within a few minutes, though under load it can take up to a couple of hours.
Requesting your own M-PESA statement is free, on USSD and in the app alike. There is no transaction charge and no fee for the emailed PDF.
The only cost you might encounter is indirect: if you need a stamped or certified statement for a visa application, a loan file or a court matter, and you need it beyond the self-service period, you may be directed to a Safaricom shop. Take your original national ID.
A mini statement is a quick balance check. A full statement is a financial document. They serve different purposes and arrive by different channels.

If a lender, landlord or embassy asks for "your M-PESA statement," they mean the full PDF, not the SMS.
The emailed PDF is encrypted. The password is sent to you by SMS separately from the email, at the time the statement is generated. It is not your M-PESA PIN, and you should never treat it as one.
If the SMS did not arrive, request the statement again rather than guessing. If you have several statement emails in your inbox, note that each PDF has its own password, so match the SMS to the request by timestamp.
Self-service statements cover up to 2 years of history. For anything older, Safaricom directs customers to a Safaricom shop with an original ID.
Within that window you can request a custom date range, which matters when a lender asks for a specific 3-month or 6-month period rather than a full year.
You can only request statements for the line you are dialling from, and only after entering that line's M-PESA PIN. There is no menu path that produces another person's statement, and any website, app or individual offering to pull someone else's M-PESA history is either lying or committing an offence.
This is a deliberate design decision, and a good one. The PIN prompt at the end of the USSD session is the authorisation step: the network already knows which MSISDN opened the session, so the PIN proves the person holding the handset is the account holder. It is the same principle that makes USSD workable for banking on a KES 1,500 feature phone.
Most failures come down to five causes, and four of them you can fix yourself.
If you are curious about the wider menu, our guide to Safaricom USSD codes maps the rest of the tree, and the USSD codes Kenyans use daily directory covers banks, utilities and government services.
Partly. The mini statement comes by SMS and needs no email at all. The full statement is email-only, because a PDF cannot be delivered over an SMS or USSD channel.
This is a real technical constraint rather than a product decision: a single USSD message is capped at 182 characters and the protocol carries text only, no attachments. That limit is exactly why the pattern you see here, USSD for the request and email or SMS for the payload, is the standard architecture for document delivery across African fintech.
Alternatively, use the M-PESA app, now part of My OneApp, where statements can be viewed and downloaded in-app.
Strip away the Safaricom branding and the statement flow is a textbook USSD service, worth studying if you are building one:
HelloDuty builds exactly this kind of service for African businesses: shared and dedicated USSD codes on Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom, a visual menu builder, session logging and callbacks into your own systems, whether that is a SACCO balance enquiry, a school fees checker, an insurance renewal or an order status line. See HelloDuty USSD for coverage and code options.
What is the M-PESA statement code?
Dial *334#, then select My Account, then M-PESA Statement. Older guides pointing to *234# describe the retired consumer menu; *234# is now the M-PESA business menu.
Is the M-PESA statement free?
Yes. Requesting your own mini or full statement costs nothing on USSD or in the app.
How long does the M-PESA statement take to arrive?
Mini statements arrive by SMS immediately. Full statements are emailed, usually within a few minutes and occasionally up to a couple of hours at busy times.
What is the password for my M-PESA statement PDF?
It is sent to you by SMS separately from the email, at the moment the statement is generated. It is not your M-PESA PIN.
How far back can I request an M-PESA statement?
Up to 2 years through self-service. For older records, visit a Safaricom shop with your original ID.
Can I get an M-PESA statement for another person's number?
No. Statements can only be requested from the registered line itself and require that line's M-PESA PIN.
Can I get an M-PESA statement without email?
The mini statement comes by SMS with no email needed. The full statement is a PDF and requires an email address, or use the app to download it directly.
Why has my M-PESA statement not arrived?
Usually a mistyped email address or a spam-folder catch. Check both, then re-request. If the PIN was rejected three times the account may be locked, in which case call 100.
